EFFECTS OF ACUPUNCTURE ON ELEVATED BLOOD VISCOSITY INDUCED BY HYDROCORTISON ACETATE IN RATS

Abstract
In order to study the effects of Acupuncture on elevated blood viscosity induced by hydrocortison acetate in rats, acupuncture was administered daily for 3 days by the regular method into the loci corresponding Hyolhae (sp,j and Kyoksu (B) of the human body to rat and Blank locus at the root of tail.
The groups were divided into 5, normal group (not treated group), control group (group treated with hydrocortison acetate), A-HH group (Acupuncture group on Hyolhae after hydrocortison acetate treatment), A-KS group (Acupuncture group on Kyoksu after hydrocortison acetate treatment), A-BL group (Acupuncture group on Blank locus at the root of tail after hydrocortison acetate treatment).
The body weight, RBC, WBC, hematocrit, hemoglobin and triglyceride were measured.
The results were as follows:
1) The body weight was increased with the statistical significance in A-HH group on the 1 st, 2nd and 3rd day, and in A-BL group on 1st day as compared with the control group. In A-KS group and A-BL group on the 2nd and 3rd day, the body weight was increased without statistical signficance.
2) RBC was decreased with the statistical significance in A-HH group as compared with the control group. However A-KS group and A-BL group did not show any significant decrease.
3) WBC was increased with the statistical significance in A-HH group and A-KS group as compared with the control group. However A-BL group did not show any significant increase.
4) The level of hematocrit and triglyceride were decreased with the statistical significance in A-HH group and A-KS group as compared with the control group. However A-BL group did not show any significant decrease.
5) Hemoglobin was decreased with the statistical
s gnificance in A-KS group as compared with the cont¢¥ol group. However A-HH group and A-BL group did rot show any significant decrease.
According to the above results, it is considered that
t ie stimulation of acupancture have the curative effect cn the elevated blood viscosity induced by hydrocort son acetate in rats.
